Among other benefits, FIRST students are eligible for more than $16 million in college scholarships from more than 150 colleges and universities.
We've been a major sponsor of the FIRST Robotics Competition since 2014. Through an NRG mentoring program, employees across the country work with local student teams to design and build entries for regional FIRST competitions in hopes of qualifying for the FIRST Championship
ScholarshipsStudents of NRG employees from across the country compete annually for scholarships (up to $60,000 each), the recipients of which are selected by an independent committee. The committee includes teachers, educators and other academic professionals.
NEEDWe invest in future energy leaders through our sponsorship of the National Energy Education Development (NEED) Science of Energy workshops for educators. NEED students and teachers actively discuss and study new energy technologies. These invaluable workshops provide mind-opening energy curricula that encourage hands-on learning.
Big Brothers Big SistersA number of NRG employees volunteer to meet with high school students twice a month during the school year through a Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program. Speakers and mentors emphasize the importance of setting goals and demonstrate what the students are capable of if they work hard.
Young AudiencesNRG has partnered with Young Audiences New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania to sponsor NRG Creatively Green festivals in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and now nationally to encourage schools to promote sustainability.
