Green Mountain Energy Sun Club

Since being founded in 2002, the Green Mountain Energy Sun Club® has provided more than 900 kW of solar power through 75 unique projects supporting more than 70 nonprofit organizations. Through a Sun Club grant, the Houston Furniture Bank will install 85.47 kW of solar, resulting in cost savings that will provide additional bedding, shelter space, and more.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

Many NRG employees volunteer with high school students during the school year through a Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program. Speakers and mentors emphasize the importance of setting goals and demonstrate what the students are capable of if they work hard.

Food banks

NRG is a longtime supporter of community food banks in the areas where our employees and customers live. Through donations and countless volunteer hours, our employees demonstrate their year-round commitment.

Thanksgiving 2020 was marked with increased need by foodbanks due to COVID and financial pressures. As a result of our collective initiatives, NRG provided support to food banks in eight states, positively impacting more than 9,000 families. The food provided spanned individual meals, full Thanksgiving dinners, and groceries, depending on the organization.

Student Conservation Association

SCA and NRG have partnered up with a strong commitment to change the face of conservation leadership in the United States. More than 19,000 individuals participate in conservation crews, internships, and service days annually.

Grounds for Sculpture

The Grounds for Sculpture Business Member Program represents an exciting and significant partnership between area businesses and art in our community. Our participation plays a valuable part in the GFS's growth and success by helping the GFS present new exhibitions, financially sustain its permanent collection and enhance its programs for children and adults.
