COVID-19 relief initiatives

When the COVID pandemic started, NRG donated $2 million in charitable contributions, including cash and urgently needed safety equipment to support first responders, and funds to aid local communities and teachers. We also allocated additional funding to the NRG Employee Relief Fund, which has been used in the past to assist employees adversely impacted by natural disasters and other extraordinary events.

American Heart Association

NRG and the American Heart Association educate and empower employees and people in communities. The partnership provides tips on taking simple, sustainable steps to adopt and live a healthy lifestyle to help prevent heart disease and stroke and live a longer, healthier life.

Cycling Team

Formed in 2005, members of the Cycling Team have combined their passion for riding with their enthusiasm for effecting positive change in the community. The flagship event for this all-region, traveling team, is the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's MS 150 charity ride from Houston to Austin. The event set a new record in 2015, raising $20.3 million to help find a cure for MS.

NRG participants cycled more than 150 miles each to participate in the event, and dozens of additional NRG volunteers helped along the way. To date, NRG has had more than 850 cyclists complete the MS 150. Together with NRG, they’ve raised nearly $848,000 for the National MS Society. The team trains throughout the year and participates in regional events.

Running Club

We sponsor and encourage employees to participate in various runs and walks to promote healthy behavior and fund research for serious illnesses. Local events we've sponsored include the HiTOPS Princeton Half Marathon, the Mercer County American Heart Association Heart Walk, and the March of Dimes Walk for Babies.
