Military Opportunities at NRG

Those who served, serve us well.

Military service members and veterans are an important part of the NRG team, and reflective of our overall support of military hiring initiatives.

We’ve long recognized the skills and experience veterans and military service members bring to our organization. Leadership, adaptability, a strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment  are valuable attributes in any environment, including the energy industry.

Our commitment takes hold

Here at NRG, we partner with other organizations to ensure we attract, recruit, and employ veterans as part of our workforce. We work with the Department of Defense’s (DOD) SkillBridge program to assist transitioning military service members in building a successful career with us.

NRG’s Patrol to Power program

Through this program, NRG and the DOD help transitioning military personnel enter into the workforce by way of a paid internship at an NRG plant or at our corporate office. Here, veteran interns can showcase their unique perspectives and valuable skillsets in critical roles within our company.

A resource for growth

Current employees of NRG with armed forces experience or connected to the military in another way can take part in VETS+, a Spark group focused on bettering the lives of military veterans.

A supportive veteran culture

We’re committed to providing veterans opportunities to help them take the next step in their careers, but once they’re here, we believe it’s just as important to support them with a work environment that makes them feel right at home.

Watch this video to learn more about our VETS+ Spark group, and get to know a few of our veteran teammates.

A place to thrive

Transitioning from a military to a business mindset can be an adjustment, but veterans are making a difference each and every day in departments across our company thanks to the many great traits they developed while serving our country.

Award-winning veteran focus

NRG recently received a 4-Star Employer Award for our continuous efforts supporting veterans in the workforce. Award winners were chosen based on responses to an expansive survey examining the most important veteran-employment metrics such as recruiting, development, retention, support, culture, and family support.
