We're also advancing solutions that help everyday Texans lower their energy bills, like our Home Essentials program — using professionally installed smart technologies to reduce energy costs — and investing in our own water stewardship, with dry cooling technology at new power plants that uses up to 96% less water than traditional designs. Our goal is to ensure the benefits of growth are shared by the communities that help make it possible.
For decades, NRG has powered Texas. We own and operate 15 power plants today and are adding 1.5 GW of new generation through the Texas Energy Fund to strengthen the ERCOT grid. We are also the largest competitive residential electricity provider in Texas. We know a functioning wholesale market is what keeps prices affordable.
Data centers and other large electricity users are bringing valuable investment to Texas, but responsible growth means shared responsibility. New large-load customers should help fund the infrastructure their growth requires — not Texas families and small businesses.
