Bill is Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs for NRG, based in Austin. He is responsible for covering ERCOT market design issues for the retail and wholesale electricity markets, providing market analysis, commercial advice, and regulatory advocacy. Bill represents NRG at the Texas Legislature, Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), and in the ERCOT stakeholder process. As an ERCOT stakeholder, he has served as an elected member of the Technical Advisory Committee, Wholesale Market Subcommittee, Reliability and Operations Subcommittee, and Protocol Revision Subcommittee. Prior to joining NRG, Bill was a VP at Goldman Sachs, where he was responsible for commodity trading strategies, managing generation assets, and other power structure, research, and advisory roles. Prior to Sachs, he worked at ERCOT, spending seven years handling all commercial aspects of the ERCOT nodal power market. He holds a Master of Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton.
Paul has been with NRG since 2013. He onboarded as a Product Analyst and worked alongside Sales and Operations to build, maintain, and implement the various retail power offerings across all competitive markets. In 2015, he transitioned into his current role as a Senior Client Strategist under Joe Houck. Since then, he has provided energy management guidance for customers across all industry sectors and regions. He has served as the Client Strategist team’s ERCOT market expert for the last several years. He holds an M.B.A. from Wayne University and a B.S. in Energy Business and Finance from Penn State.
Bill began working in commercial energy sales in 2005 with Cirro Energy. After a brief stint from 2008-2009 working on the broker side, he returned to Cirro and was a staple there until the transition to NRG Business in 2021, where he now supports direct sales. Bill holds a B.B.A. in Business Management, and an M.B.A. in Strategic Leadership, focusing on communication. Bill is a proud husband, father of five, and active member of the Prosper, Texas school board.
