Speakers

Bill Barnes – Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs, NRG Energy, Inc.

 

Bill is Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs for NRG, based in Austin. He is responsible for covering ERCOT market design issues for the retail and wholesale electricity markets, providing market analysis, commercial advice, and regulatory advocacy. Bill represents NRG at the Texas Legislature, Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), and in the ERCOT stakeholder process. As an ERCOT stakeholder, he has served as an elected member of the Technical Advisory Committee, Wholesale Market Subcommittee, Reliability and Operations Subcommittee, and Protocol Revision Subcommittee. Prior to joining NRG, Bill was a VP at Goldman Sachs, where he was responsible for commodity trading strategies, managing generation assets, and other power structure, research, and advisory roles. Prior to Sachs, he worked at ERCOT, spending seven years handling all commercial aspects of the ERCOT nodal power market. He holds a Master of Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton.

Sal Pollastro – Client Strategist, Business Sales Operations, NRG Energy, Inc.

 

Sal began his career with NRG as a pricing analyst, specializing in the PJM region. His academic background includes an undergraduate degree in Energy, Business and Finance, complemented by a graduate degree in Applied Economics, providing him with a solid foundation for the energy industry. His focus is to provide value to customers through practical, actionable insights delivered via regular strategy calls and market updates. He enjoys the challenge of staying on top of market trends, learning the nuances of each market region so he can advise cogently on each, and gaining trust with the customer so they can collaboratively customize strategies.

Andrea Raef - Director, Commercial and Industrial Sales West, NRG Energy, Inc.

 

Andrea joined Direct Energy in October 2011 and brings a wealth of knowledge in the fields of energy billing, utilities, and pricing to her current role as Director of C&I sales. She has spent sixteen years in the energy sector, and prior to joining DE, worked at TXU in multiple sales support roles. She understands keenly that energy is always evolving, and that the best way to support her customers is to build relationships, and offer ways to reduce costs. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, Marketing Concentration, from University of Texas at Arlington, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dallas.
