John Holtz leads the charge in expanding competitive retail energy markets across the Midwest and Eastern U.S. John’s responsibilities extend to state regulatory compliance and the support of business development and operations for eight NRG retail companies in the Midwest, Northeast, and Mid-Atlantic regions. With nearly four decades of experience in public policy, John is deeply knowledgeable about energy, environmental, and consumer protection matters. He has held positions in both the legislative and executive branches of the New Jersey state government and was a member of the Governor’s Consumer Protection Advisory Council. His private sector experience includes roles at the American Petroleum Institute and New Jersey-American Water Company. John's journey in the energy sector began in 1998 with Green Mountain Energy Company, where he opened new markets and managed successful business units in Florida and New York. Today, he also shares his expertise as a guest lecturer on energy restructuring policy at Rutgers University.
Bruce Murray is an Account Executive on NRG’s Technical Sales team, supporting customers across the New England market. He works closely with account teams and clients to deliver strategic power and natural gas solutions, with a focus on procurement, pricing strategy, and risk management.
With more than 25 years of experience in both wholesale and retail energy markets, Bruce has supported a wide range of customers — from commercial and industrial organizations to municipal, state, and federal entities. Prior to NRG, he held senior roles at Constellation (Exelon) and ENGIE, building deep expertise in wholesale power trading, portfolio management, and customer-focused energy sales.
Bruce brings extensive knowledge of fixed and indexed pricing structures, block and hedge strategies, and managed energy solutions, providing clients with informed, practical guidance in complex market environments.
He holds an M.B.A. in Marketing from Saint Joseph’s University and a B.S. in Business Administration – Finance from Drexel University.
Chris has nearly 40 years experience in the energy industry, working with companies such as First Energy, Equitable Resources, Select Energy, and NYSEG Solutions/Energetix. With these companies, he gained knowledge of both the regulated and unregulated sides of the business, generation management, wholesale trading, and electric and natural gas retail energy marketing. He brough these skills to Direct Energy in November of 2008, working in their Binghamton, NY, office as the manager of electric supply operations. Later, he moved to Pittsburgh to join the Market Intelligence team as a Senior Analyst. In 2014, Chris joined the Key Client Services team as an Energy Strategist. There, he stays on top of the New England energy markets, supporting NRG’s managed product customers and sales teams by providing current market information and pricing signals to optimize the benefits to NRG’s commercial and industrial customers.
Rich has been in the energy industry since 2001, working for Hess Energy, Direct Energy, and NRG. During his time at Hess, Rich held positions in finance and collections before moving to the sales team where he oversaw brokers and consultants. At Direct Energy, Rich transitioned to managing the national consultants, national accounts, and government teams. Now with NRG, Rich manages the Northeast Broker Group.
