Sam has 14 years of experience in the energy industry, with a background in multiple competitive markets. Prior to joining NRG, Sam worked for some of the largest energy consultants and energy suppliers in the U.S. For NRG, he serves on the Technical Sales team as the representative focusing on the PJM and MISO regions. Sam is responsible for strategic power and gas solutions, as well as assisting customers with their demand response and renewable energy needs. He holds a B.S. in Business Marketing from Illinois State University, and an MASc in Environmental Management, focusing on Energy and Sustainability, from the University of Denver.
Courtney Cousins is a Client Strategist on NRG’s Strategic Client Services Team, consisting of regional experts across the deregulated electricity and natural gas markets in the U.S. and Canada. In her role as a strategist in the Midcon region, she works with some of NRG’s largest commercial and industrial customers, keeping them informed about market trends and fundamentals, and devising & executing purchasing strategies in alignment with client goals. Courtney has been with NRG & Direct Energy since 2009. Prior to joining NRG, she worked for a major retail energy supplier in the Chicago area, which served C&I customers in the ComEd & Ameren territories. Courtney holds CEP accreditation and has a BS in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame.
John brings over 25 years of energy industry experience to his role as Senior Sales Manager for the Mid-Continent region. He began his career in 1997 with Louisville Gas & Electric Energy and has since held key positions at ProLiance Energy, Hess Energy, Direct Energy, and now NRG Business. John’s expertise spans both wholesale and retail energy markets, with a strong focus on natural gas, power, demand response, and sustainability solutions. Since joining NRG’s Sales organization in 2024, he has led strategic growth initiatives across the Mid-Continent region, helping customers navigate a dynamic energy landscape. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Bellarmine University and an MBA from the University of Louisville — credentials that complement his deep industry insight and leadership acumen.
