Speakers

  • Jon deJong, Senior Meteorologist, NRG Energy, Inc.

    Jon provides day-to-day weather updates for all the major ISOs across North America with an increasing focus on renewables and seasonal forecasting. His 18-year professional forecast experience spans weather and climate impacts to industries including pro sports teams, the Department of Transportation, ERCOT, and railroads in the western U.S. Jon holds a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from St. Cloud State University.

  • Melissa (Smith) Wright – Senior Client Strategist, NRG Business Sales Operations; East Region

    Melissa Wright comes to NRG with a B.S. in Marketing from Smeal College of Business at Penn State, with a Minor in Supply Change Management. She originally worked in logistics but turned to the energy sector because she had followed gas and oil industry fundamentals working with fleet car sales and found the sector both interesting and challenging. She learned the industry in sales and gained expertise in the market that now supports her focus on large commercial and industrial customers within PJM and the Carolinas. She manages large portfolios, provides data analytics, regulatory updates, and cost projections to help with purchasing decisions, and enjoys talking with customers about their sustainability goals as interest grows in that sector.

  • Hans Rottmann, Senior Manager, Technical Sales East, NRG Energy, Inc.

    Hans leads a team that works with sales representatives to offer energy solutions to customers. The solutions include complex retail gas and electric products, renewable services, and demand side capabilities. Hans has over 30 years of experience in the wholesale and retail energy markets, including working with some of Direct Energy’s largest key customers to develop and implement energy procurement strategies. Hans came to NRG via the recent acquisition of Direct Energy, where he started in 2000. Hans received both his Bachelor of Science in Accounting, cum laude, and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Buffalo.

  • Albert Lussier – Managing Director, Northeast Structured Sales

    Al currently serves as the Managing Director of Northeast Structured Sales for NRG, overseeing a team of seven account managers and over 70 indirect reports. His team focuses on natural gas and power sales to key Northeastern C&I customers, providing customized layered energy strategies and tailored account support. He has significant expertise in pricing strategy, market intel, demand response, and renewables. Prior to joining NRG (via Direct Energy) in 2007, Al served at Hess Corporation, Select Energy, and Northeast Utilities. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies with a Literature concentration from Muhlenberg College.
