What is Responsive Economic Dispatch?

It’s a way to take control of your energy usage, especially during times of rising demand for power, volatile prices, and extreme weather — any of which can wreak havoc on your energy planning and budget. Responsive Economic Dispatch (RED) can help keep costs under control by turning these challenges into a smarter, more flexible energy strategy that monetizes reductions in your energy consumption.

We offer two RED programs for our customers. Each provides a unique path to a better energy approach.

 

Responsive Economic Dispatch – Energy

Plan highlights

RED-Energy allows customers to earn bill credits by reducing their energy usage at key periods of high demand and stress on the grid. The path to savings is direct and proven:

  • For NRG customers on a Fixed plan, sign up through a simple addendum to your existing NRG agreement.
  • Receive day-ahead notifications when energy reduction opportunities are at hand.
  • Take advantage by reducing energy the next day and earning bill credits for both participation and performance (there are no penalties if you are unable to reduce).
  • Get access to our experience and market expertise to make energy reduction proven and stress-free — we develop an action plan that details ways you can reduce and brings added confidence to curtailing load.
  • Benefit from a flexible range of product options and structures that work in conjunction with other demand/reliability programs.
One of our RED programs could be a great fit if …
  • You’re an existing NRG commodity customer on a Fixed or Indexed electricity contract.
  • Your contract contains fixed capacity and transmission (demand) components.
  • Your company has an annual energy usage greater than 1,000 MWh and/or tag values of 150 kWh and higher.
  • You prefer budget stability but are open to exploring energy savings opportunities.

Responsive Economic Dispatch – Peak Demand

Plan highlights

RED-Peak Demand creates a path to energy savings focused on adjusting energy usage at key times, delivering future savings through reduced capacity/tag charges:

  • For NRG customers on a Fixed plan, sign up through a simple addendum to your existing NRG agreement.
  • Receive real-time alerts in advance of reducing your energy load.
    Reduce your load and earn 50% of the savings that result from capacity/tag reductions — with NO penalty if you are unable to reduce.
  • Tap into our market expertise to make energy reduction proven and stress-free — we develop an action plan that details ways you can reduce and brings added confidence to curtailing load.
One of our RED programs could be a great fit if …
  • You’re an existing NRG commodity customer on a Fixed or Indexed electricity contract.
